Quick note…

This morning….. While responding to 12 emails, eating greek yogurt, perusing my google reader, procrastinating on facebook and drinking coffee (of course) I also received a call requesting a reference for a former employee.

The individual in question was a good employee – for a while. Then things went sour. Not sure why… not sure how. We pride ourselves on being intelligent, friendly, laid-back – and most importantly fun. At any rate – circumstances resulted in a negative vibe… thus effecting work and eventual termination. It wasn’t easy – it was painful and traumatizing. I offered my hand in any reference — but then…

  1. It was brought to my attention just how much this person was taking advantage of me.
  2. This individual’s significant other called and issued … shall we say – not so nice words.
  3. This individual’s significant other called and apologized but added that they had “jumped the gun”.
  4. This individual took projects and posted them online as if they were solely responsible for the design work.
  5. After requests to remove these projects, nothing has been done.
  6. Since nothing has been done – we are looking at other request options that may not be so nice.

So… now I have to make a judgement call. It’s the holidays, and jobs are not that easy to come by these days… so I’m inclined to forgive and forget… but how much of a push-over do you (and you know who you are) think I am?

We are guilty too…

The holidays are here.

I know – next week is the official kick-off, but we want to get things going early. It’s time to stop wishing ill, whining about … everything and everyone. Heads up– this season will be over before we know it. Is it too early for a tree (a good friend asked)? I think not… bust it out… cut it down… no one is spending a fortune this year (at least not on socks) so just sit back and enjoy.

It’s not rocket science, but we will treat it as such. We work for you, at your request. You pay us. Once we are paid, we can pay those that we owe. Then the cycle begins again. If you can’t pay us, do not request that we work for you.

Sorry. Economy 2008  = Bad behavior.

On a lighter note… We have a Brent swimming in one of our ponds! Apparently rare… this quirky goose (larger than a mallard but smaller than the Canadian honker) has been checking us out just as much as we have been watching it. All calls out for a mate – we hope the Brent is here to stay.

In other news…

We’ve fallen behind on our blog. We are aware of this and appreciate everyone’s concern. There are a number of reasons why we are lagging….. In a nutshell we blame: The Election; Daylight Savings Time; Our Clients (whom we love); The basement absestos removal; The unfinished bathroom at our office; CR 39; The Bank; The Throgs Neck Bridge; The Baby; and Halloween.

Life just became a little more exciting these past few days… We are attempting to get a hold of ourselves…..
